How to set gaming limits on iPhone and iPad
Decide how much time games get before opening them. Game Blocker combines time spent in selected games into one daily allowance and uses Apple’s Screen Time controls to pause them when it is used.
Game Blocker is preparing for App Store release. The steps below describe its setup flow. It requires iOS or iPadOS 17.4 or later and Screen Time authorization.
For your own gaming
- Choose Gamer mode. Approve individual Screen Time authorization on the device you use for games.
- Select the game to limit. The free plan supports one individual game. Gamer Pro supports unlimited selected games or the Games category.
- Set one daily allowance. Choose a preset or enter 15–480 minutes. Time is shared across the selected games.
- Allow notifications and finish setup. Notifications provide warnings at 10 and 2 minutes remaining. Selected games pause after the allowance is used, until local midnight.
For a child’s gaming
Install and configure Parent mode on the child’s iPhone or iPad. It must use the child or teen Apple Account in your Family Sharing group. A parent or guardian approves Apple’s authorization request.
Create a six-digit Parent PIN, choose games and set the shared allowance. Parent Free covers two games and Require Password purchase protection. Parent Pro adds unlimited games, bedtime, device-wide in-app purchase blocking and a seven-day activity report. This is local device protection, not remote management from a parent’s phone.
What bedtime and Hard Mode do
Bedtime is a Pro feature that keeps selected games paused during your chosen window, even if the daily allowance has reset. Gamer Pro’s Hard Mode prevents changing limits or resetting setup inside the app until the next local midnight. Individual authorization still allows system-level revocation or app removal.
How to read gaming activity
Apple renders private reports for selected games. Parent Pro shows daily gaming time over seven days. Gamer Pro adds totals, averages over reported days and a four-week dot grid. An outlined dot or dash means data has not been reported; it does not mean zero minutes.
What stays private
Your selection, allowance, activity and Parent PIN stay on the device. No account or advertising is used. Apple and RevenueCat handle purchases; they do not receive your gaming activity from this app.
